Introduction to Principal Rowley
- Shared background
- What are you going to bring to Alta?
- If students will own their own education/learning they will go a lot further. Set learning goals with students each day.
SBO Update/Report – Mrs. Louder & SBO’s
- Morp was canceled/postponed. Sweet Hearts is still a go. Hoping not to have to cancel.
- Brought in $15,000 for the Make a Wish fundraiser.
- Legacy assembly is coming up in a few weeks.
- Alta’s new Vice Principal Melissa Sirin is now over Student Government
PTSA Update – Nicole Harman
- Gift Card giving in December. Every staff member got a $25 GC.
- Hot chocolate and coffee bar Feb 10th.
- Dinner in March for PTC.
- Reflections was canceled.
- Virtual PTSA day in person day February. More info in the news letter that Shelly Karren sent out.
- Looking for people: Need a President Elect–need a lot of nominations before the 9th of Feb, voting on in March.
- Battle of the Bands Feb 24th 6 pm in the commons regional March 19th.
Counseling Corner – Mrs. Bjerregaard
- Registration and Freshmen Night (planned but postponed-date TBD)
- It has been very busy in the counseling office.
- Will be starting course requests for next year soon. These will be done in ELA classes.
- Juniors’ post high school days is Feb 9th they will pick 3 colleges to go to.
- Act is March 8th–working on registration soon.
- Regence Changes: no Act need 3 concurrent classes
Graduation Input for 21-22 – Mr.Rowley
- Huntsman Center U of U – May 25th 10:00 am
- Mackenzie Hyer is working on it already, getting committees together ect…
- We are really hoping not to have a tier 3 graduation this year.
Teacher of the Year Nominations – Mr. Rowley
- We are gathering the nominations for Teacher of the Year after February 4th.
COVID
“Test to Stay”
- It was not a good experience. Will be handled differently if we ever have to have one again.
Alta Professional Development (PD) Schedule – Ms. Karren
- More informed about students emotional needs
- Self Care
- A lot of new staff members. Are they getting enough help and support? Getting everyone up to speed and on the same page.
LandTrust and TSSA Budgets – Mr. Rowley
- We are running reports, gathering information
- Next meeting we will go over how we want to spend it.
Debate Recognition – Mr. Rowley
- Merrin Maughan: 1st in Oratory, 2nd in informative
- Mia Jones: 2nd in Oratory
- Mariam Safeudien: 1st in Impromptu, 2nd in National Extemp, 5th in Lip Sync
- Alex Brown: 1st in SpAr, 8th in LD
- Abby Hansen: 2nd in SpAr, 2nd in Impromptu
