Unique Name Practice
Student Government will be in the Library during Advisory on May 18th and May 19th to learn and practice saying unique student names for graduation.
If your name is commonly mispronounced, please attend.

8:30am –10:30am: Graduation Practice
*Meet in Auditorium*
10:30 AM – 11:00 AM: Yearbook Handout
10:30 AM: Graduates are excused for lunch
Graduation Decorum and Attire
Graduates will arrive in their best dress, with gowns in hand. Gowns should have been pressed prior to the ceremony.
- In addition to the prescribed cap and gown, graduation attire may include traditional objects of religious, tribal, or cultural significance, that include but are not limited to:
- ONE plant based or ribbon lei on the floor for graduation. Flowers, candy leis, corsages, flags, personalized stoles or leis, decorated caps and other ornamentation NOT DISTRIBUTED BY ALTA are not acceptable during the ceremony and will not be permitted on the graduation floor.
- Students wishing to wear cultural items during graduation will need to bring those items for approval from the administration during Advisory on 5/13 or 5/14.
- Mantles, cords, insignias, or medals signifying achievement, honor, or recognition are restricted to awards issued and approved for display at graduation by Alta High School.
- No backpacks, bags, or purses will be allowed.
- No celebration items will be allowed. For example, no beach balls, silly string, air horns, balloons, confetti, animals, or other items that can be deemed disruptive.
- Graduates will show proper respect for those speaking, singing, or otherwise participating in the program as outlined. Showing respect includes giving attention to the ceremony and speakers, and not creating verbal, digital (cell phone) or other disruptions.
- Graduates who do not follow this protocol or are otherwise uncooperative will be removed from the ceremony and receive their diploma at a later time.
