Alta High School
Soar to a New ALTAtude
We are an inclusive learning community with a tradition of inspiring, supporting, and collaborating with students as they prepare to be engaged citizens in their pursuit of continuous success.

Back to School Checklist – School starts one week from today, on August 24th. We are looking forward to serving our students again, and we have plans in place to help keep everyone safe. To aid us in this, please support your student in following these expectations on each school day:

  • Complete a symptom check before leaving the house; stay home if you are sick.
  • Bring and wear a face mask, following the CDC Guidelines for correctly wearing masks.
  • Arrive to school at the first bell and go directly to class. Or, go to the cafeteria or a classroom if you must come to school early.
  • Bring a fully-charged device to utilize in classes (laptop, tablet, iPad, etc.).
  • Follow directional arrows in the hallways and all safety procedures in each classroom.
  • Assist teachers in sanitizing your learning space at the start of each class.
  • Vacate the school grounds immediately after school or report directly to a school-sponsored after school event.
  • View the COVID-19 updates for the Alta High Community on page 4 of this newsletter each week.

Chromebook Distribution – Alta is implementing a 1:1 technology plan! We would like to ensure that you have what you need to be successful on the first day of school. • Online Registration & Alta Class Schedule – Online registration is still open, but Arena Scheduling is now closed. If your child has put one or more online classes in their schedule, you will receive more information later this week about additional steps to complete registration for these courses. Throughout this week, we may make some slight changes to student schedules in order to balance class sizes and aid in mitigating risk by allowing for greater physical distancing in the classroom. You will be contacted if your student’s schedule is adjusted.
  • Makeup Picture Day – We apologize for the long wait on picture day last week. Lifetouch was having some technical difficulties, making the process longer than expected. If your student was unable to have their photo taken, a makeup day has been scheduled for September 17th.
  • New Alta High Bell Schedule – We have added a third lunch to Alta’s traditional bell schedule so it will be easier for all students to find space in our cafeteria, courtyard and other areas to physically distance from others while they eat. Classes that have second lunch will hold the first half of their class, break for lunch, then return to their 3rd/7th period for the second half of class. See the additional page for a copy of this new schedule.
  • Fee Waivers – Utah state law requires that all students who qualify for fee waivers must reapply each school year. If your child has previously been on fee waiver or you would like to newly apply for a fee waiver, please visit either the Alta Main or Attendance Office. You can also apply for free or reduced lunch through the Skyward registration process or by completing the online application.
  • Preschool – There is still some space available for students interested in taking Early Childhood Development and help run the Alta High Preschool!See the additional page for more information and call your counselor to get added into the class.
