  • Positive Behavior Interventions & Celebrations: Congratulations to our FCCLA culinary and baking competitors who all qualified for the upcoming State competition in March! Keimon Henderson took 1st place in Culinary, Jacob Read took 2nd place in Culinary and Autumn Engstrom took 2nd place in Baking and Pastry at their region competition! Also, our  Boys’ Basketball Team is Region 8 champs! They cut down the nets to celebrate this past Friday. We also congratulate our wrestlers who participated in State this past week: Johnny Orr, Zach Lovell, Jaxon Moe, Hayes Thompson, Quin Christensen, Ian Bushell, Jace Beckstead, Tony Rindlesbach.

  • PTC info: Parent Teacher Conferences are next week on March 1st & 2nd. We invite you to sign up for an appointment with teachers via Skyward. You may sign up to meet virtually via zoom (links will be on the school website) or in-person. Please be sure you sign up ahead of time to be courteous to others who have reserved their time slots. Should time slots be filled for a given teacher, we encourage you to reach out to that teacher via email to arrange for another time to meet. Sign-ups are live now! See instructions in the flyer section below on how to sign up.

  • The PTSA is providing dinner to our teachers on Tuesday, March 1, 2022 at 2:30 p.m. prior to their Parent Teacher Conferences that day. Although we will be having the main dish for the dinner catered by a restaurant, we are still in need of some items. Please have everything dropped off to Alta High School no later than 2:00pm March 1.   • Want to be a published, professional author? Enter the Spring Plume Award Contest with a story of 200 words or less.  Theme: “Just in Time”.  Due in room 2216 to Ms. Defriez by Feb 25th. Winner 50$ Honorable Mention 25$ and publication in Euphony, Alta’s literary magazine. Look forward to reading you!

  • Any Juniors interested in running to be a Student Body Officer for the 2022 – 2023 School Year, there is an informational meeting on Wednesday, February 23rd in room 2121 at 2:30 p.m. Elections will be held the last two weeks of March. All applications must be submitted by March 16th. 

  • Attention Spring Sport Athletes: If you are planning to play a Spring Sport you need to make sure you have completed your registration on Register “My Athlete” before the first day of tryouts which is February 28th. Visit the Alta Athletics website at www.ahsathletics.com for more information, or visit www.registermyathlete.com directly.

  • Alta’s HOSA Chapter and Hope Squad are teaming up through a Sock Drive service project this spring to support the Volunteers of America Utah and would love the community’s support! New socks are being collected through our Advisory classes.  The class who collects the most pairs of socks will win a prize! The Sock Drive continues thru February 25th. We gratefully accept your donations!

  • Online Registration for the Junior ACT will take place during ADVISORY this week in the COMMONS. Students with last names A-L will register this week on Thursday, February 24th. Students with last names M-Z will complete their registration on Friday, February 25th. Please bring your charged Chromebooks with you to the Commons. For those students with morning CTEC or who are absent on these days, there will be multiple make-up sessions available the week of February 28 through March 4. It is very important that our juniors complete this process prior to taking the ACT on Tuesday, March 8th. For questions, please see your counselor or Shannon Kershaw, Alta’s ACT Coordinator.” 

  • Attention Junior Families: The state ACT will be administered to all Alta juniors on Tuesday, March 8, 2022. The schedule for the ACT day is published in the letter below.  Alta is pleased to announce that we have partnered with Sycamore Learning Company again this year and will be able to offer a test prep course on Saturday, February 26, 2022, from 9:00 am to 3:00 pm in the Commons.This is for Juniors only. Please see the flyer below for details on how to register.

  • Yearbook Orders: It’s time to reserve your copy of the school yearbook if you haven’t already done so. Yearbooks are now available through February 27th for $58. (Book price increases March 1, 2022 to $60 and extra books will be $60 on yearbook day.)  To order a yearbook, you may do one of the following.  Bring in or mail a check for $58 to the school’s Main Office or purchase a book through Skyward. To purchase through Skyward: Go to fee management / make payment / optional fees. Click on yearbook. You also may go online to https://jostensyearbooks.com/?REF=A08724530 to order your book. The first two options cost less because you don’t have to pay a processing fee. Please note, we will order a few extra books for sale in May, but they go fast.  NOW is the time to order your yearbook.

  • Join more than 2,000 girls from hundreds of schools around the state for this free, hands-on day of STEM, industry partners, mentors, and more. Lunch is included.

    • Workshops include: Programming; Engineering; Aerospace; Robotics; Product Invention & Entrepreneurship; Biomedicine; Web, Digital Marketing, Ecommerce and User Experience; Gaming, Esports, VR;  Science in Tech (eg. Chemistry, formulation, materials).
    • Register online now at https://shetechexplorer.com/explorer-day/ and see Janet Jefferson in room 2117 to sign-up for the bus.  Bus transportation will be provided at Alta High School. 

      SheTech Explorer Day will be held on March 1, 2022 at Mountain America Expo 8:30am-1:30pm.

  • Interested in Film Making? Enter the 12th Annual Canyons District Film Festival. Go to filmfestival.canyonsdistrict.org for details!  There are six film categories and a poster contest students may enter, click on any of the links below to learn more or go to canyonsdistrict.org/filmfestival .  Submissions can be submitted online and are due April 12, 2022. Winners will be announced at the Film Festival Red Carpet Awards on April 28th, 2022.
