- JOHANNA TAYLOR -
Johanna Taylor is an illustrator, concept artist with a BFA in Animation, and graphic novelist based in Salt Lake City. She has a BFA in animation, and focused her studies on concept art, storyboarding, and sequential storytelling. She is an avid player of tabletop RPGs, and contributed artwork to the Ennie award-nominated Uncaged Anthology, The Venture Maidens Campaign Guide, and other RPG-based publications. She also enjoys reading Victorian classic novels over tea, nordic skiing, and feeding crows.Johanna is a member of the Cartoonist Cooperative, and has contributed comics and illustrations to independent publishers such as Limit Break Comics, EEP, and 2CGaming; and publishing houses such as Oni Lion Forge, Penguin Random House, and MIT Press.
Johanna Taylor will be visiting Alta High School on November 7, 2025 for Book Club! We will be reading her newest graphic novel, The Ghostkeeper, from October to November for Book Club!Â

Matthew J. Kirby is the critically acclaimed and award-winning author of the middle grade novels The Clockwork Three, Icefall, The Lost Kingdom, Infinity Ring Book 5: Cave of Wonders, and The Quantum League series, the Dark Gravity Sequence, and the Assassin’s Creed series, Last Descendants. He was named a Publishers Weekly Flying Start, he has won the Edgar Award for Best Juvenile Mystery, the PEN Center USA award for Children’s Literature, and the Judy Lopez Memorial Award, and has been named to the New York Public Library’s 100 Books for Reading and Sharing, and the ALA Best Fiction for Young Adults lists.Â
Matthew J. Kirby will be speaking with students at Alta High School on January 21, 2026 via zoom during Advisory. We will read his book, Star Splitter, from December – January for Book Club!Â

Marc Gregson visited Alta High School on November 6, 2024. He is the New York Times bestselling author of Sky’s End and its sequel, Among Serpents. Sky’s End has been picked up for a movie deal. Antonine Fuqua will be directing the film.
-ERIN STEWART-
Erin Stewart is the New York Times Bestselling author of four different YA and middle grade books, including Scars Like Wings, the book we read for Alta’s book club this year. Erin Stewart visited Alta on December 11, 2024.Â
