Two weeks of school have quickly passed and we are thrilled with what we have seen in our classrooms and hallways! The excited buzz in classrooms, the laughter in the hallways, the smiles from teachers….these are what was so missed all summer!!
✔PSAT Information
The Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test is a great tool for students considering college. The PSAT/NMSQT measures critical reading skills, math problem-solving skills and writing skills. It is also taken to enter the competition for National Merit Scholar scholarships (11th graders) and to help prepare for the SAT. The 2025 PSAT will be administered on Thursday, October 30th. Students participating in this exam will be excused from their morning classes. Exam registration and payment will take place online beginning on August 18th. Students will register and pay at: www.totalregistration.net/PSAT/450402
The cost for the PSAT will remain the same this year at $20 per exam. Students with an accommodation plan on file with Alta (504/IEP) must register/pay and complete the consent document by September 5th in order to request accommodation approval from College Board. Please see Dr. Jensen for a consent document. The registration and payment deadline are Friday, September 26th. A $5 late fee will begin on Monday, September 22nd. There are a limited number of spaces available, so please don’t wait until the last minute. Please note that the PSAT test will be given in digital format. College Board no longer allows paper testing of the PSAT NMSQT. Students will need to bring a district issued, fully charged Chromebook to the exam. ✔Picture Make Up Days
The yearbook and ID card pictures are taken free of charge and every student must get their picture taken and get a student ID card. Picture make up days will be Wednesday, September 3rd and Thursday September 4th. Pictures will be taken in the library 7 am – 1 pm on both days.
Canyons dress code policy will be enforced. (see attached flyer) Everyone will need to have their picture taken to get a student ID card and for the yearbook. If your student has not had their picture taken, please have them get their picture taken on these days.
✔News From the Cafeteria
There is a three hour position available in our Alta Cafeteria from 10:30am – 1:30pm Monday – Friday! Please apply on the Canyons School District Human Resources Website.
Also, a reminder to please complete a Fee Waiver form (located in the Main Office) if a Free/Reduced lunch/breakfast is needed for your student.

Alta class and course fees have been added to your student’s Skyward accounts. Please log into your Skyward account to see and pay these fees.
Attached are instructions on how to pay online through Skyward. Payments are also accepted in the Alta Main office with cash or check.
