February 23 - 27, 2026 Information

✔ACT Info/Modified Schedule For All Students

On Wednesday, March 11th, 2026, all 11th grade students in the Canyons School District have the opportunity to take the ACT for free as part of the district’s college readiness focus. Alta 11th grade students are already registered for the ACT, which is used by many colleges and universities as part of their admission requirements, scholarship opportunities, and for NCAA eligibility. It is also a strong predictor of college success.

The Exam is scheduled for Wednesday, March 11th, 2026. Alta’s 9th, 10th and 12th grade students will be provided with a late start schedule (see below). Please be aware that the regular bell schedule will be modified; however, students are encouraged to consult with teachers, as needed, beginning at 12:50 p.m.

The ACT at Alta is for Juniors only. Check-in for the ACT will start at 7:15 a.m. and testing will begin promptly at 7:40 a.m. The ACT requires that all students taking the test have a picture ID with them.

For the test itself, students should bring a district issued Chromebook (fully charged), an appropriate calculator, and pencil (see actstudent.org for additional information). Other than an approved calculator and district issued Chromebook, no electronic devices are allowed in the testing room. Please leave all cell phones, iPods, watches, air pods, and electronic devices at home. Students will not be allowed to access electronic devices during breaks.

Juniors will complete a Chromebook check and receive information on how to create a MyACT account during English classes on Monday, February 23rd and Tuesday, February 24th. The MyACT account will provide students with access to their scores. This process must be completed within 2 days of the ACT test in order for students to have access to online scoring.

Attached below you will find further information on how to create a MyACT account and test day information.

If you have any questions, please contact Dr Jensen at jodene.jensen@canyonsdistrict.org

Please contact Jodene Jensen at jodene.jensen@canyonsdistrict.org if you have any further questions.

✔AP Exam Registration

The last day to register and order AP exams is Friday, March 6th, 2026. AP exam registration is a two-step process. Students enroll in the exam on College Board’s site and pay for the exam through Total Registration. See the attached flyer below for specific information on how to pay and register for AP exams. Each step must be completed by the deadline in order for a test to be ordered. If you have any further questions or would like to make sure that your student has ordered a test, please email Dr. Jensen at jodene.jensen@canyonsdistrict.org.

✔February Digital Citizenship Message – Helping Your Kids Deal with Digital Drama

Most kids will encounter mean behavior at some point in their digital lives. To some kids, this experience is a blip that’s easily forgotten, while for others it can have deep, long-lasting effects. For parents, the key is staying involved in kids’ lives — both online and off — so they can step in and offer help if necessary. With guidance from parents and educators, kids can learn how to dodge the drama and stand up for others.  Visit Common Sense Media to learn more about these quick tips..

✔PTSA Parent Teacher Conference Support
Alta’s Parent Teacher Conferences will be held Monday and Tuesday, Feb 23rd and 24th. The PTSA will provide a meal for the teachers on Monday afternoon, Feb 23rd. If you can help in any way, please sign up below on the sign up genius. Please bring all donations to Alta’s main office before 1pm on Monday, Feb 23rd. Red Ribbon Week! – sponsored by the PTSA Student Club
Alta’s PTSA and students are celebrating Red Ribbon Week Feb 23-26! This year’s national Red Ribbon Week theme is: “Life Is a Puzzle, Solve It Drug Free”.  At school during the week, the PTSA is sponsoring themed dress-up days that support our desire for students to live drug free. Students will also have an opportunity during Monday & Tuesday lunch hours to pledge to live drug free. Please partner with us and discuss this message at home, at the dinner table, at family outings, and with friends and extended family. Here is a link to additional parent resources for more information. https://www.redribbon.org/resources. The mission of PTSA is to make every child’s potential a reality. We feel that living drug, tobacco, and alcohol free are important puzzle pieces in working toward that potential.  See the attached flyer for details about the week!
