Student Honors

Congratulations to our National Merit Finalists! Alexander Burton, Sean Groathouse, Camille Houferak, and Nicole Moody have received national recognition for their outstanding academics and excellent results on the PSAT and SAT tests.  This honor will qualify them for many scholarships and great educational opportunities.
In addition to the National Merit Finalist honor Sean, Camille and Nicole are also among the top 3,000 students in the United States who have been selected to compete for the prestigious Presidential Scholar Award.   If they are selected as a finalist for this award, they will have the opportunity to have an all expense paid trip to Washington D.C. to meet with our Nation’s leaders and some of the most renowned minds in our country.  Good luck on this competition. Congratulations to all of these students for these wonderful honors and awards and thank you for representing Alta High School so well!

Camille Houferak, a senior who takes a very challenging schedule. Adjusting to a new school your senior year is difficult but Camille has jumped in feet first. She is a student that performs at the top of her class. She has an inquisitive style and interacts well witih almost any type of student. Mr. Allred requested her help as a host for a family visiting from Pennsylvania (her former home state).

jessica Schone,a junior that is one of our top students in AP United States History. She thrives in academics. She joined the Academic Decathlon team and has been the top performer. She finished 2nd in the region as the overall student in all three categories. She has raised the bar for the team. Her discipline and direction has inspired them.

Alexandra "Buggy" Douglas and Alta Roberts for the way they have taken leadership in the Keys to Success Program.

Sierra Batey, an officer in Alta's FBLA club, is currently serving in Women in Leadership for the Sandy Chamber of Commerce, representing Canyons School District. Sierra is also serving an internship for Mayor Peter Caroon's Campaign.
