The School Community Council (SCC) consists of school employee members and parent or guardian members.  Alta has up to 25 people allowed to serve on our SCC, with, by law, one more parent member than employee member.  Parents elect the parent members and employees elect the employee members.  At Alta, we meet most months during the school year.  We attend school events and also staff informational tables at some school events.

The SCC is responsible for creating a School Improvement Plan in association with the school leadership team, as well as formulating the School LAND Trust Program for Alta High.   The SCC also assists in the creation and implementation of a staff professional development plan.  The Alta SCC also makes recommendations to school and school district administrators and the local school board regarding the school and its programs, school district programs, a child access routing plan and other issues relating to the community environment for students.

Parent nominations for the 2011-12 school year will be open until September 6, 2011 for six available parent positions.  Candidates will then be asked to address the SCC at the Wednesday, September 7 meeting.  Elections and voting will take place September 7-9, 2011.  If you are interested in serving on the SCC, please notify the school principal or SCC Chair prior to September 6, 2011.  SCC terms are for two years and you must have a child enrolled at Alta for at least one of the two years to be an eligible candidate.
