New Alumni Association
Alta High Alumni are being called upon to assist in the organization of an alumni association as Alta High prepares to celebrate its 30th year in existence.
The Alta High Alumni association was commissioned by the school's community council and is asking for assistance from alumni, parents of alumni, businesses and organizations that have had a close association with the school.
"After nearly 30 years of graduating students from Alta High School," said Fred Lowry, class of 1984,"it is time to organize an alumni association to assist the students of the present and tuture and prepare them to do great things in the world."
Lowry said when the community council approached him about organizing the alumni association he was surprised to find a non-existent association at the school while rival high schools such as Bingham and Jordan have very active alumni associations that have functioned for many decades.
"It is a shame for a school with the history and reputation of Alta to not have an active alumni association," said Lowry who served as Student-body President at Alta in 1983-84.
One of the biggest assignments and challenges for the association will be to prepare and help celebrate Alta's 30th year, which begins with the 2007-08 school year this fall.
The alumni association will be involved to assist the students and help connect the community with the school. The association plans to raise scholarships, create different career opportunities for students through internships and help connect students from the past with the students of the future.
We are looking for the countless alumni who have been very successful in the many career filds that are willing to give back to the school.
For anyone interested in becoming involved in the association or looking for more information you may contact the forming association by email: AltaHighAlumni@Hotmail.com or contact Fred Lowry at 801-572-4301.
